March 11, 2022

We celebrated World Book Day on March 3rd.  We brought our favourite books to school and each pupil had an opportunity to tell the class about their chosen book.  We were exposed to a wide variety of genres and the children really enjoyed showcasing their own personal interests.

We've been very busy here in fourth class over the last few weeks.  The children completed some wonderful projects and art on Ancient Egypt, Saint Brigid and Chinese New Year.

Check out some of our fantastic work from November!  Science week was a great hit with the children.  We learned about energy and forces, paying particular attention to buoyancy.  The children worked in pairs to construct boats using only three sheets of paper.  We put the boats to the test, investigating firstly, if they would float and secondly to test which boat would hold the most cargo.  The winning boat stayed afloat whilst carrying 100 markers!!

Lots of activity this week for Active Week.  We've enjoyed dodgeball, hula hoops, basketball, rounders to name a few.  Well done to everyone for participating in Active Homework too! The children are particularly enjoying Mr. Cronin's challenges! 😬💪🏻

Active week was kicked off in style last week as Shane Walsh joined us for a meet and greet with the pupils.  We had a questions and answers session with him and Shane gave some great advice on healthy eating and staying active.  Shane also presented the winner of our poster competition (3rd-6th) with a signed Galway jersey!  Well done to Daragh Keane in fifth class.

The boys and girls in fourth class worked really hard on their posters and they were all fantastic.

"My name is August.  I won't describe what I look like.  Whatever you're thinking, it's probably worse." (August Pullmam, Wonder)

We have just finished our first novel, Wonder by R.J. Palacio.  A tremendously moving and inspirational read!📖😢😊

October was a very busy month in fourth class! We started football training with Jack Hynes, our coach from Galway GAA.  This will run for five weeks and gives us a great opportunity to brush up on our skills!🏐😁

Maths week took place October 16th-24th.  We played some maths games in class and made great use of our Active Flag walkway.  ✏📋
