Children and teachers had great fun doing the Mega Maths Quiz on Tuesday 18th October, as a part of Maths Week 2022!! Over 500 schools participated on this online quiz and we worked together as a team to solve some of the problems!! They were challenging but together we worked them out! We even had to rope in Mr Cronin for one of the more difficult ones!! It was great to see the kids engaging in mathematical discussion and their pleasure in working out the problems! We even got to see ourselves online😆
We also made our very own board games. The children worked in groups to create and design their own boards! They also tested them out and had great fun trying to see who would win! We hope to distribute them to other classes during the week.
Well done to all involved.
5th class participated in Children’s Mental Health Awareness week in February!
Every morning we discussed and decorated positive affirmations and enjoyed dance routines, music, yoga and meditations🧘♀️🧘♀️
We had great fun in 5th class today designing and making a playground from paper! The children had to create solid structures eg a swing, slide, that could hold a small figurine!
They did an excellent job and came up with some very creative and interesting structures!
They really enjoyed working in groups and the final
result was wonderful
For Science Week in 5th class we made lava lamps. We used water, oil, food colouring and Alka Seltzer! Children had a fun time watching the reaction when the Alka Seltzer was added to the oil and water!
We have been working very hard in 5th class the last few weeks! We completed projects on the digestive system (science) and polar animals as a part of learning in literacy!
The children worked in their pods, using the laptops to research each topic and presented their research on paper!
We also did oral reports on our animal projects, presented them to the class and won homework vouchers and subject passes! Everyone worked brilliantly in their groups and the projects were amazing! Well done all👍👍
A big welcome to all 5th class pupils, we are looking forward to a great year with you 😁 See you in the morning!
